The main components of the GIMP Window are as follows:
Title bar It is placed at the top of the window. It shows the name of the file and other
basic information about it.
Menu bar It is placed below the title bar. It contains different options in the form of
menu.
Toolbox The GIMP provides a toolbox for performing basic tasks such as making
selections, drawing paths or color pickers and many more.
Canvas Central area of the window is surrounded by a yellow dotted line showing the
image boundary against a neutral grey background is called Canvas. You can
change the zoom level of the image display in a variety of ways, including the
Zoom setting as described below.
Ruler It is used to create guides. By using ruler guidelines, you can position things
accurately.
Status bar The Status Bar is placed at the bottom of the GIMP window. Most of the
time, by default, it shows which part of the image is currently active, and
the amount of system memory that the image is consuming. The status area
displays what operation is being performed, and its state of progress.
Toolbox
The GIMP has a diverse assortment of tools that lets you perform a
large variety of tasks.
Various Tool used in GIMP are as follows:
Move Tool [M]
This tool is used to move layers, selection, text and other objects.
Alignment Tool [Q]
This tool is used to align layers or other objects.
Rectangle Select Tool [R]
This tool is used to select rectangular region.
Ellipse Select Tool [E]
This tool is used to select elliptical region.
Free Select Tool [F]
This tool is used to select the hand drawn region with free and polygonal
