Gowri: Hello. In this chapter we are going to study about security of computer,
threats to it, solutions to the threats etc.

7.1 THREATS TO COMPUTER

Aryan: Threats! What do you mean by threat?

Gowri: A threat is something that may or may not happen, but has the potential
to cause serious damage.

Aryan: Then, What are Threats to computer?

Gowri: A threat to the computer is a potential negative action or event that results in an
unwanted impact on a computer system. A threat can be “accidental” or “intentional” or any other a
circumstance, capability, action, or event.

Aryan: What are the different types of Threats?
