2. Mental Illness
Social networking sites are increasing the risk of mental health problems like depression,
anxiety, and loneliness. Spending so much time scrolling through social media can result
in symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. Teenagers’ mental health is often negatively
affected by this culture of comparison as well.
3. Frauds and Scams
This is one of the major challenges for social media companies. There are a number of
fake user accounts on various social networking sites, including Facebook, Instagram,
and X.
4. Misleading Information
This is one of the most significant problems for social media companies. Fake information
and misleading news can go viral in a few seconds on social media platforms.
5. Privacy Issues
Your activities on social media can help people or companies learn more about you and
what you are searching for. By your sharing image history or your profile privacy issues
may also come.
Let us revise what we have learnt:
Ø Information technology has transformed society from the industrial age to the
networked era, affecting education, government, healthcare, and personal relationships.
Ø E-learning provides 24/7 access to educational resources, with platforms like Google
Meet and Microsoft Teams enabling online classes and video lectures.
Ø E-governance uses ICT to offer efficient government services, with initiatives like
Digital India, Aadhaar, and digital land records playing a key role.
Ø E-commerce involves buying and selling goods online. Popular sites like Amazon and
Flipkart offer 24/7 availability and lower costs, but issues like limited customer service
and security risks remain.
Ø Social networking sites like Facebook and Instagram connect people globally, enabling
networking, news sharing, and marketing, but also contributing to addiction, mental
health problems, and privacy concerns.
