Commercial Entrepreneurs
Commercial entrepreneurs focus on making money by offering goods or services to people. Their main
goal is to run a profitable business.
Example:
Tariq opened a restaurant in Karachi. His main goal is to make a profit by serving good food to people.
He offers delicious dishes like biryani and nihari to customers and makes money from every meal sold.
Growth-Oriented Entrepreneurs
This category includes entrepreneurs who either start multiple businesses over time (serial
entrepreneurs) or focus on growing one business rapidly through investment and expansion (scalable
startup entrepreneurs).
Serial Entrepreneurs
Serial entrepreneurs are people who start many businesses one after another. Once they succeed
in one business, they sell it and move on to start a new one. They love creating businesses and then
passing them on.
Example:
Sara started a clothing brand in Karachi, and after making it successful, she sold it and started a café.
She keeps finding new business ideas and building them one after another. Sara is a serial entrepreneur.
Scalable Startup Entrepreneurs
Scalable startup entrepreneurs create businesses that can grow quickly and expand. These
entrepreneurs often seek investment to grow their businesses faster and reach larger markets.
Example:
Careem is a scalable startup in Pakistan. It started as a small ride-hailing app in Karachi but expanded
quickly to other cities and countries. It grew by seeking investors who helped them expand their
business and reach more people.
TRADITIONAL VS DIGITAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Entrepreneurship simply means starting a business, but today
there are two main ways to do it. Traditional entrepreneurs
open shops or factories you can visit in person, while digital
entrepreneurs build websites and apps you can use online.
Both kinds aim to solve problems and earn money, yet they
work in very different worlds—one you can touch and one
you can click. Knowing how they differ helps us understand
how businesses grow in our neighbourhoods and across the
Internet.
