Drone Navigation: Drones use GPS and other sensors to navigate and
measure distances in the sky. These devices are used for various purposes,
such as aerial photography, surveying, or delivery services. The collected data
is sent to computers or mobile devices for analysis.
Geocaching Devices: These handheld devices help people find hidden
treasures or “caches” in outdoor areas. They use GPS technology to guide users
to the exact location of hidden items, making it a fun and interactive way to
explore nature.
APPLICATIONS IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES
Manufacturing is the process of making things in factories using machines and people.
For example, items like clothes, chocolates, cars, mobile phones, and furniture are made in
manufacturing industries.
These industries use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to help make their
work faster, safer, and better. ICT helps in many ways in factories and industries. Here are some
important uses:
Designing Products (CAD – Computer-Aided Design)
Before making a product, it must be planned or drawn. Engineers
use special computer programs like CAD to design items such as
cars, clothes, or mobile phones on the computer. This helps them
to see what the product will look like and how it will work before
building it.
Example: A car company uses CAD to design a car’s shape, colour, and parts on the screen.
Controlling Machines (CAM – Computer-Aided Manufacturing)
In factories, machines and robots are often used to make products.
ICT helps in controlling these machines automatically with the
help of computer programs. This process is called Computer-Aided
Manufacturing (CAM).
Example: A robot arm in a factory can put parts of a phone together without
needing a human to do it.
Checking Quality (Quality Control)
ICT helps in checking if the products are made properly. Cameras, sensors,
and software are used to find mistakes or damaged products. This helps
in making sure that only the best-quality items reach customers.
Example: In a chocolate factory, if one chocolate is broken, a machine
removes it before packing.
