Look at the following pictures and tick (✓) the ones that are examples of operating systems.
The Operating System (OS) is like the brain of a computer, it starts working the moment you turn on
the machine and allows you to interact with it through the desktop on your screen. For desktops and
laptops, common OS choices include Ubuntu, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS, each offering unique
features and interfaces.
WHAT IS OPERATING SYSTEM?
An Operating System (OS) is system software that acts as an interface between hardware and the user.
It manages and coordinates the operation and the sharing of resources of the computer. It acts as a
host for applications that run on the computer and handles the operation of the hardware. It performs
basic tasks, such as booting the system, recognising input, sending output, keeping track of the location
of files and directories on the disc, controlling peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and
external drives, ensuring they function correctly with the computer.
