INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND DIGITAL RIGHTS
Intellectual Property (IP) refers to creations of the mind such as inventions, artistic works, and digital
content. Digital rights protect these creations online.
Copyright
Copyright is a law that gives creators special rights to control how their work, like books, music,
videos, and software, is used. Using someone’s work without their permission is illegal. Always ask for
permission or use content that is free to use, like those with Creative Commons licenses.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism means copying someone else’s words, pictures, or ideas without saying where you got them
from. It is wrong and unfair. To avoid plagiarism, you should use quotation marks for exact words,
mention the source, or explain the idea in your own words.
Digital Piracy
Digital piracy is when people copy or share movies, music, software, or games without permission. This
is illegal and breaks copyright laws. Examples include downloading cracked software or sharing paid
music for free. Always use legal ways to get digital content.
