Every computer system is made up of many different parts that work together. To connect all these
parts and external devices, computers use I/O ports (Input/Output ports) and peripherals. In this
chapter, we will learn what these are, how they work, and what they are used for.
WHAT ARE I/O PORTS?
I/O (Input/Output) ports are the physical connections on a computer or electronic device that allow it
to communicate with external devices. They are used to send and receive data between the computer
and other devices, such as printers, keyboards, or monitors.
USB Port
A USB (Universal Serial Bus) port is a connection point on a computer or
electronic device used to connect external devices for data transfer and power
supply. It allows the user to plug in various external devices like flash drives,
keyboards, mouse, printers, cameras, and smartphones.
Type-C Port
A Type-C (USB-C) port is a modern version of the USB interface. It is compact
and reversible, which means it can be inserted either way up.
USB-C supports high-speed data transfer, video output, and fast charging. It is
commonly used in phones, laptops, tablets, and newer monitors.
