In absence of the Internet connection, you cannot send or receive e-mails.
USES OF E-MAIL
E-mails are used for many purposes:
E-mails help you communicate quickly with friends, family, and teachers.
You can send homework and assignments to your teachers using e-mail.
E-mails allow you to share photos, videos, and important documents easily.
You receive news, updates, and newsletters through e-mail.
People use e-mail to apply for jobs and contact businesses.
PARTS OF AN E-MAIL ADDRESS
An e-mail address is made up of three important parts that help identify who you are and where your
e-mail is hosted:
1. Username: This is your unique name or ID that identifies you on the e-mail platform. It can be your
name, a nickname, or a combination of letters and numbers. For example, in student123@gmail.
com, "student123" is the username.
2. @ symbol: This symbol separates your username from the domain name. It is always used in every
e-mail address to show the division between the user’s name and the e-mail provider.
3. Domain name: This part shows the e-mail service provider or host that manages your e-mail account.
It usually includes the company’s name and the domain type, like gmail.com, yahoo.com, or outlook.
com. In the example student123@gmail.com, "gmail.com" is the domain name.
CREATING AN E-MAIL ACCOUNT
The basic steps involved in creating an e-mail account are:
