Applications of Embedded Systems

Automotive control systems such as engine management and airbags

Household appliances like microwaves and washing machines

Medical devices including pacemakers and imaging systems

                   Industrial automation and robotics

              Edge Computing

Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing closer to the source
of data generation, such as IoT devices or local servers. Instead of sending all data to a central cloud
for processing, edge computing analyses data locally or near the data source, reducing latency and
bandwidth use. This enables faster decision-making and real-time processing, which is essential for
applications like autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, and real-time video analytics.

              Applications of Edge Computing

Autonomous vehicles processing sensor data locally for quick responses

Industrial automation with real-time monitoring and control
Smart cameras and surveillance systems performing on-device video analysis

              Data Analytics

Data analytics involves examining large volumes of data to discover patterns, trends, and insights that
inform decision-making. In networking, data analytics helps optimise network performance, improve
security by detecting anomalies, and personalise user experiences. Advanced analytics techniques,
including machine learning and artificial intelligence, are increasingly used to process complex data

sets from IoT devices and other sources to support smarter and more efficient networks.
