provides a useful feature that helps us fill repetitive or sequential data easily using the
Fill Handle. The feature of entering sequential data in the cells of a sheet is called Autofill.
This feature allows us to quickly fill data down a column or across a row.

WHAT IS FILL HANDLE?

When a cell is selected in a sheet, a small solid square
called the Fill Handle appears at the bottom-right corner Fill Handle
of the cell. When you place the mouse pointer on the Fill Handle, the pointer changes to

a black plus sign. This black plus sign is used to fill cells with repetitive or sequential data.

FILLING A NUMBER SERIES

Let’s say we want to enter numbers in a sequence from 1 to 5 using the Fill handle.

To fill data in a sequence from 1 to 5, follow the given steps:

1 Enter the first two numbers
you want to start the series with.

2 Select both the
cells containing
the numbers you
have entered.

3 Position the mouse pointer over the bottom-right 4 Drag the mouse pointer over
corner of the last selected cell. The pointer changes the cells you want to include in
to (+) sign. the series.

The sequence will be completed automatically.
