                    Cybercrime is another threat on the Internet. Our personal
                   information can be misused on the Internet.
                    Inappropriate content is also available on the Internet which

                   may not be good for the mental well-being of children.



                           COMMONLY USED INTERNET TERMS


                 Let's learn some commonly used terms on the Internet:

                 WWW

                 The  World Wide Web is  a storehouse  of information.  It is  the  largest  collection  of
                 information which is stored in the form of websites. The web pages on the World Wide

                 Web are developed using a special language called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).

                 WEB BROWSER

                 A  web browser is  a  software  that  lets  you  access
                 the pages on the World Wide Web. Mosaic was the

                 first successful graphical web browser developed by
                 Marc  Andreessen  and  Eric  Bina  released  in  1993.          Microsoft      Google       Mozilla
                 Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox                 Edge         Chrome       Firefox
                 are the commonly used web browser.


                 WEB PAGE

                 The pages that make up the World Wide Web are known as web pages. A web page is

                 created using a special language called HTML (HyperText Markup Language). A web
                 page can be accessed using a web browser.



                     PURE        The first web page went live on August 6, 1991. It was dedicated to provide information
                     FACT        on the World Wide Web project and was made by Tim Berners-Lee.




                 HYPERLINK

                 A web page may contain links to other web pages or places. These links are known as
                 hyperlinks. A hyperlink can be a text or a picture. The mouse takes the shape of a hand
                 when we hover it over a hyperlink. When a hyperlink is clicked, the part that it is linked to
                 opens in the browser window.
