In this chapter, you will learn how to turn on and use a computer. You'll discover
how to open programs, click with the mouse and type using the keyboard.

HOW TO START A COMPUTER?

Before working on the computer, we need to start it. This is called switching on
the computer. We can start a computer by following the given steps:

1 Switch on the power button.

A screen appears after switching on the computer. This screen is called the
desktop. We can see small pictures on the desktop. These small pictures are

called icons. At the bottom of the screen, you will find a horizontal bar, which
is known as the Taskbar. The Taskbar contains the Start menu and a set of

fixed icons. It also shows the running programs as icons when minimised.
