COMMONLY USED INTERNET TERMS

There are some basic terms that are associated with Internet. These are:

Web Page: It is a digital document on the Internet. It contains information in the
form of text, pictures, animations, videos, etc.

Websites: It is a collection of related web pages that provide information.

World Wide Web: It is a virtual storehouse of information. In fact, it is the largest

collection of electronic information which is stored in the form of websites.

Web Browser: It is a software that helps to view a website on a computer, mobile
or tab. Computers running the Windows 11 operating system come with Microsoft

Edge as their default web browser.

URL: It stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the address of a website, such
as www.google.com., www.rediffmail.com, etc.

Search Engine: A search engine is a program that searches through the collection
of web pages and helps us locate the website or information we are looking for.

Google is the most popular search engine. Some other examples are Bing and
Yahoo.

USING URLs

URLs are the key to navigate the web. To open a website, type the URL in the

https://www.orangeeducation.in in the address bar and press the Enter key.
