GETTING STARTED WITH SCRATCH
To start Scratch, follow the given steps:
2 Click on All
apps.
3 Scroll down
to S and click
on Scratch 3.
1 Click on the
Start button.
Scratch is not installed in Windows 11 by default. To download Scratch, visit
https://scratch.mit.edu/download website.
COMPONENTS OF SCRATCH WINDOW
When Scratch starts, you will see a window as given below. Let’s learn about the
different components of the Scratch window.

Block Palette Script
Sprite Backdrop
Coding Area
Sprite Info Pane
Sprite: It is a character in Scratch which acts on the stage. An orange cat is the
default sprite.
