NAME BOX A2 is the

A Name Box displays the address of an active cell or address of
a range of selected cells. A cell’s address consists of its the active
cell.

CELLS
The intersection of a row and a column is called a cell. A cell is the
basic unit of a worksheet in which you enter data in the form of text,
numeric values, formulas or functions. A cell in your worksheet is

activated or selected for entering data into it. Each cell has a unique address. It is named
after combining the name of a column and row.
Address of cell: <Column letter><Row number>

The address of the selected cell is B9 which is made after
combining the column’s letter, i.e. B and the row’s number, i.e. 9.

Active Cells
A selected cell is known as the active cell. It has a dark green border around it.

FORMULA BAR

The content of the active cell appears in the
formula bar. When the cell contains text or a
fixed number, the content of the formula bar is
the same as what you see in the cell.

WORKSHEET TABS

Excel files are called workbooks and a workbook
can have multiple worksheets. Each worksheet has
a tab at the bottom of the screen. We can add a

new worksheet by left-clicking on the + sign.

STATUS BAR

Status bar is located at the bottom of the workbook window. It displays the status and
results of the common functions used in Excel 2021.

VIEW OPTIONS
These options help us view the worksheets in different modes—Normal View, Page Layout
View and Page Break Preview.
