In the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), computers can now talk to people using a special
program called a chatbot. Today, chatbots are used in many places such as schools, shopping
websites, hospitals and games. As technology grows, chatbots are becoming smarter and more
helpful in our daily lives.
CHATBOT
A chatbot is a computer program that helps people
interact with devices using text or voice. It works like a
virtual assistant, listening to your question and giving
a suitable reply.
Chatbots are designed to do things like answering
questions, giving information and guiding users. For
example, a school app may use a chatbot to explain
lessons, remind students about homework or answer
questions about school schedules. Chatbots make
technology easier by letting people communicate
naturally with machines.
HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF CHATBOTS
Chatbots have been around for many years. They have slowly become smarter as computers
have improved. Here is a quick look at how chatbots developed over time:
1966 – ELIZA: The first chatbot, ELIZA, was created by Joseph Weizenbaum. It could only reply
using simple words, but it showed that computers could talk to humans.
1972 – PARRY: PARRY was another chatbot, which acted more like a person, showing that
chatbots could have their own personality.
1990s – ALICE: ALICE was developed in the 1990s and could answer more questions and have
better conversations.
2000s – Chatbots for Websites: By the 2000s, chatbots were used on websites to answer
questions and help customers online.
2010s – Voice Chatbots: In 2011, Apple introduced Siri, a voice-controlled chatbot. Soon, other
voice assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa were created.
2020s – Smart AI Chatbots: Today, chatbots like ChatGPT are much smarter. They can hold
long conversations, answer difficult questions and even help students learn.
