AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)
Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that adds digital information,
like images, sounds or videos, to the real world. Instead of replacing
reality, AR enhances it by overlaying digital content on top. For
example, using a smartphone or tablet, AR can add digital objects,
like a game character or information, over what you see in real life.
HOW DOES AR WORK?
The simple breakdown of how Augmented Reality (AR) works is as follows:
Camera & Sensors: The device’s camera captures the real world, while sensors detect
movement and location.
Processing: The device analyses the environment and decides where to place digital objects.
Display: The real-world view and digital content are shown together on the screen.
Interaction: You can interact with the digital content by moving or tapping your device.
EVERYDAY EXAMPLES OF AR
Some everyday examples of Augmented Reality (AR) include:
Games: AR improves the gaming experience by adding virtual characters or objects into the
real world, as seen in games like Pokémon GO.
Education: AR makes learning interactive by displaying 3D models or information, enhancing
the understanding of complex topics.
Shopping: AR allows users to virtually try products, like furniture or clothes, before purchasing.
Training: AR overlays instructions or simulations to help users practice skills, such as medical
or technical training.
