NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a field of artificial
intelligence (AI) that focuses on the interaction between
computers and human language. It involves teaching machines
to understand, interpret and generate human language in a
way that’s both meaningful and useful.
NLP is about bridging the gap between human communication and computer understanding and
enabling machines to respond intelligently to human language.
EXAMPLES OF NLP
Here are some examples of Natural Language Processing (NLP):
Chatbots: Chatbots use Natural Language Processing (NLP) and
Machine Learning (ML) to interact with humans naturally. They
analyse user questions, gather information and respond accordingly,
improving over time through learning from interactions.
Voice Assistants: Voice assistants like Siri, Alexa and Google
Assistant use speech recognition and language processing to help
with tasks like setting reminders and making calls.
Language Translator: Google Translate uses Natural Language
Processing (NLP) and sequence-to-sequence modelling to translate
text accurately between languages. Previously, it relied on Statistical
Machine Translation (SMT), which was less accurate and based on
patterns in large translated texts.
Grammar Checkers: Grammar and spell checkers are essential tools
for professional writing. They correct mistakes, suggest synonyms and
improve readability using Natural Language Processing (NLP). These
tools are widely used in offices, schools and content creation.
