MANAGING LAYERS

Managing layers means to create, delete, duplicate, hide, rename and insert an object on a new
layer. Let us learn about these operations in detail.

CREATE A NEW LAYER

To create a new layer, click on the Add Layer
button at the bottom left corner of the
Layers docker. When you click on this button,

a new layer is added and shown in the Layers
docker.

DELETE AN EXISTING LAYER
To delete a layer, follow
the given steps:

1 Select the layer which
you want to delete.

2 Click on the Delete the layer or
mask button at the bottom right
corner of the Layers docker.

The selected layer is removed from the file.

DUPLICATE A LAYER To duplicate a layer:
Duplicating a layer means making an exact copy of the layer. Ctrl + J
You can duplicate a layer, including its contents and properties.

To duplicate a layer, follow the given steps:

1 Select the layer which
you want to duplicate.

2 Click on the Duplicate layer
or mask button at the bottom
of the Layers docker.

All the contents and effects used in the layer will be copied in the new layer also.
