Advantages of E-Mail
E-mail has various advantages, some of them are:
An e-mail can be sent anytime and from anywhere in the world.
An e-mail can be sent to many people at a time.
An e-mail can be easily forwarded to anyone without typing it again.
Sending an e-mail is fast in comparison to traditional mails.
E-Mail Address
You need to have an electronic address to send and receive e-mails. This electronic
address is called e-mail address. The e-mail address is unique for each e-mail user.
Some examples of e-mail addresses are as follow:
orangeeducation123@gmail.com orangeeducation@yahoo.co.in
orangeeducation123@gmail.com
Although these e-mail addresses have different

formats depending upon the type of network but
always have same form— a username and a domain name separated by @ (pronounced
as ‘at’) symbol. The portion before the at (@) symbol is called the username and
the later one is called domain name. The username is unique to every individual
sending or receiving e-mails. The domain name is common to all the individuals using
a particular server or network for sending or receiving e-mails.
The first person to send an e-mail across a network was Ray Tomlinson.
He used the “@” sign to separate the names of the user and th e domain name.
Creating an E-Mail Account
There are various websites that provide e-mail services free of cost. Some of them
are Gmail, Yahoo, Rediffmail, Outlook, etc. You can create your e-mail account with
any of these service providers. The most common general purpose and free e-mail
service provider is Gmail.
Imagine, if your emails could be delivered by virtual birds that fly across the
Internet. What kinds of birds would deliver different types of messages?
