Artificial Intelligence is the ability of a machine to think and learn. Since many years, scientists
have been trying to make machines artificially intelligent, that is close to human intelligence.
Let's learn how Artificial Intelligence has evolved during these years and take a look at some of
the revolutionary inventions.
1950s
In this decade, two major contributions were
observed. In 1950, Alan Turing submitted
a paper about the possibility of creating a
machine that would think. This became a test
for machines to check their thinking capability.
Alan Turing Bombe
One of the greatest achievements of Alan Turing is the creation of Bombe, a machine that
could decode encoded messages.
In 1956, John McCarthy, coined the term Artificial Intelligence
in a conference. He created the programming language LISP in
1958 which was extensively used to program AI systems. He is
known as 'Father of AI'.
