1960s

In this decade, the first chatbot ELIZA was created in MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory by
Joseph Weizenbaum, in 1966. This is what it looked like:

1970s

In 1973, a robot named WABOT was created by Ichiro Kato. This was the first step towards
building a humanoid robot. WABOT walked with its lower limbs and was able to grip and
transport objects with its hands.

In 1984, WABOT-2 robot was created at Waseda University. It was the successor of WABOT-1.
It was capable of playing a piano.
