2. Break it into parts

3. Digitise it into a computer-readable format
4. Apply a set of instructions to match the audio with the most suitable text representation

Role of Artificial Intelligence in Speech Recognition

AI-powered speech recognition technology adds convenience to its users. It has the

ability to recognise an individual based on their audio command. These systems use the
grammar structure, syntax and composition of audio and voice signals to process the

speech. The accuracy of conversion has almost reached 95%.

Almost all the smartphones currently use a virtual assistant to understand the human
voice and perform actions accordingly. For example, an android-based smartphone has
Google Assistant as virtual assistant which listens voice commands and performs action

like make a call, send a message, open photos, etc. Some other voice assistants, which

works on speech recognition technology, are Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Meta AI, etc.

Areas where AI-powered Speech Recognition is Being Used

Currently, speech recognition is being used for:

• searching information on Google.
• writing emails, composing documents on Google docs.

• carrying out household tasks, such as turning on the lights, boiling water, adjusting the

thermostat, etc with the help of smart devices.

• identifying a person’s voice and authenticate.
