Ethical considerations in NLP are critical as they capture, interpret, and generate human language,
which can influence individuals. Different ethical concerns raised by AI in NLP are as follows:

Bias

Sometimes, NLP systems learn unfair or hurtful ideas from the text they are trained on. For example,
if a chatbot reads only certain types of messages, it might become biased and treat people unfairly.

Historical bias

This happens when machines learn from old data that contains common stereotypes or unfair
ideas. For example, if the word “nurse” is mostly linked to women in the data, the machine
may wrongly think that only women can be nurses. This shows a bias against a certain gender.

Representation bias
This occurs when the data includes too much information about some groups and too little
about others. When certain people are left out or shown too much, the AI may make incorrect

or unfair guesses about the whole population.
