The micro:bit is a small but programmable computer that helps you turn your
ideas into reality through exciting projects. In this chapter, you'll get familiar with
the micro:bit, learn how to set it up and create your first program to bring your
creations to life.
MICRO:BIT
A micro:bit is a small, pocket sized, easy to use minicomputer. It has a 5x5 Light
Emitting Diode (LEDs) display, two programmable buttons and sensors that detect
movement. You can write programs using block-based editors and then transfer it
to the device.
Components of Micro:bit
The micro:bit has several components, divided between the front and back of the
board. Let us explore the components in detail.
Front Components
The front of the micro:bit contains all the user input and output components.
Let us learn the front components:
5x5 LED Display: A grid of 25 programmable LEDs that can display text, numbers
and images.
Programmable Buttons: Two buttons, A and B, that you can press to control
your project.
Touch-Sensitive Logo: A sensor on the logo that reacts when touched.
