Have you ever played a video game or used a robot toy? Some of the things you
see and use are real, while others are made to act like they’re real, these are called

simulated components. In this chapter, you’ll learn how both real and simulated
components work, where you find them and why they’re both important in technology
                 and innovation.

                 ROBOTICS COMPONENTS

Every robot is made up of different parts that
help it move, sense and think. These parts are

                 called robotics components. Each component
has a special job, some help the robot move
and act in the real world, while others help it

process information and make decisions inside
                 a computer.

Robotics components can be grouped into two main types:

n Hardware components: These are the real parts that you can touch and see.

n Virtual components: These are the digital parts used on a computer to control
                    the robot.

These components work together to help robots function effectively and perform
various tasks in both real and virtual environments.

                 HARDWARE COMPONENTS

Hardware components are the tangible parts of a robot that enable it to interact
with the environment and perform tasks. These visible hardware pieces are made

from materials like plastic, metal and wires that form the body and structure of the
robot, allowing it to move, sense and function properly.

The hardware components of a robot are given
                 below:

n Body: The body is the structural framework
of the robot that holds all the components

together. It provides stability and support to
the motors, sensors and other parts of the

                    robot.
