Every computer system works by taking input from the user, processing it and then
giving an output. The Micro:bit also follows this rule, it has both input and output

components that allow it to interact with the environment and users.

                  INPUT AND OUTPUT COMPONENTS

The Micro:bit has several built-in input and output components that help it sense

and respond to the world around it. The input devices includes buttons and sensors
for light, temperature, motion (accelerometer) and direction (compass). The output
devices include the LED display, which shows messages and icons and the sound

                  output, which produces tones.

The Micro:bit also has the ability to control external devices such as buzzers, LEDs,
motors and sensors via its Edge Connector pins and can use radio signals for wireless

communication to interact with other devices.

Some of the input and output devices are as follows:

Light Sensor Touch Sensor Radio Temperature Sensor

                                                                                                       Microphone
                   LED Display
                                                                                                       Sound Output

                                                              Compass & Edge Connector
                              Buttons (A and B) Accelerometer

n Buttons (A and B): The Micro:bit has two programmable input buttons, A and
                     B. These large buttons on the front can be programmed to perform different
actions when pressed, allowing the Micro:bit to respond to user inputs, such as

displaying a heart on the LED display.

n Microphone: It has a built-in microphone sensor. It allows the device to detect
sounds from the environment and respond to them, such as clapping your hands

to make the Micro:bit display a heart.
n Accelerometer: An accelerometer is a motion sensor in the Micro:bit that detects

movement and tilt in different directions. It can sense actions like shaking or freefall.
