APPLICATIONS OF COMPUTER VISION IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Whether it’s spotting faces, reading signs or sorting packages, Computer Vision is part of our daily
routine. CV is now present everywhere around us.
Let’s explore different applications where CV is used.
Face Recognition
Face recognition is a technology that allows systems
to identify or verify a person based on the features of
their face. It works by capturing an image of a person's
face and comparing it to a database of known faces to
find a match. This technology uses specific algorithms
to analyse key facial features such as the distance
between the eyes, the shape of the nose and the contour
of the jawline. Face recognition is used in airports and
security systems to identify individuals. It is also used in
smartphones to unlock the screen or open apps using your face.
Autonomous Vehicles
Autonomous vehicles (also known as self-driving cars)
are equipped with a variety of advanced technologies,
including cameras, radars and sensors, to allow the
vehicle to navigate and make decisions without human
intervention. These vehicles use Computer Vision (CV)
and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to interpret the
data collected by these sensors and make real-time
decisions about how to drive safely The cameras and sensors in these vehicles are used to detect
traffic lights, pedestrians and road signs to drive safely.
