Robots are made up of two main components:
1. Mechanical Components
2. Electronic Components
Mechanical Components
Mechanical components are the physical
parts of a robot that help it move, work and
perform tasks. They give the robot its shape,
support its movements and allow it to lift, push
or carry things. Essentially, they act like the
robot’s body and muscles.
The mechanical components of a robot are
given below:
Wheels or Legs: These help the robot move
from one place to another. Some robots
roll on wheels, while others walk on legs.
Motors: Motors are like the robot’s muscles. They turn wheels, move arms or rotate parts so
the robot can do its work.
Arms and Grippers (End Effectors): These are like the robot’s hands. They help pick up, hold
or move objects.
Gears: Gears control how fast or strong a robot’s parts move. They help the robot move
smoothly and do tasks with the right force.
Electronic Components
Electronic parts in a robot are the pieces that let it think, sense and act using electricity. They help
the robot receive information from its surroundings, make decisions and control movements.
Without them, a robot cannot respond to commands or interact with the environment, because
they provide the electrical signals needed for its operation.
The electronic components of a robot are given
below:
Microcontroller (Brain): This is like the robot’s
brain. It tells the robot what to do.
Sensors: These are like the robot’s eyes, ears
and skin. They help it see, hear or feel things
around it.
Light sensor: Notices how bright it is.
Ultrasonic sensor: Measures how far things
are.
Touch sensor: Feels when it is touched.
