young innovators
Dimitris Hatzis
Dimitris Hatzis from Greece became, at
age 15, one of the youngest people to build
a functional, life size 3D printed robot. This robot
is life-size, functional, speaks fluent English and
features impressive mechanics such as five
degrees of freedom in each arm. While his project
is less about mass deployment and more of a
showcase of engineering, it’s a strong inspiration
for young learners that robotics is within reach
even for students. Hatzis’s work inspires students to explore robotics and realise that innovative
technologies like 3D printing can be accessible even at an early age. His achievement encourages
young minds to dream big and believe that the world of robotics is within their reach.
Prateek
Prateek, a 13-year-old from Chennai, Tamil
Nadu, has created an innovative robot called
“Raffi,” which can detect human emotions
and respond to questions. This impressive
achievement showcases his understanding
of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and
human-computer interaction. Raffi uses AI
to analyse facial expressions, tone of voice
and body language to gauge emotions,
offering responses that are sensitive to the
emotional context. By combining technology
with emotional intelligence, Raffi provides a
glimpse into the future of empathetic AI, with potential applications in mental health support,
customer service and companionship. Prateek’s creation highlights how young innovators can
push technological boundaries, paving the way for more compassionate, emotionally aware
machines in everyday life. His work is a significant step toward human-centric, AI-driven devices.
