young innovators
Kancharla Srimahitraj
Kancharla Srimahitraj, born on 22nd
October 2010 in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh,
created a robot named "Shreyash – The Caring
Bot" to assist during the COVID-19 pandemic. The
robot was designed to help in delivering essentials
and medical supplies, reducing human contact
and minimising the risk of infection. Srimahitraj’s
innovative project not only demonstrates his
technical skills at such a young age but also reflects
his dedication to using technology for social good,
particularly in challenging times like the pandemic.
His work highlights the potential of robotics in improving public health and safety.
Saarang Sumesh
Kerala, made his first robot at
the age of 4 and by age 7 was
described as “the youngest robot
maker in Kerala (and possibly in
India)”. His inventions include a
smart seat belt project (detecting
rollover, water/fire sensors) built
early in age. His early interest and
impressive skills in robotics have
made him a remarkable example
of how young children can
engage with and master complex
technology. Saarang’s achievements inspire others to explore the world of robotics from a
young age, proving that age is no barrier to innovation and creativity.
