Technology is changing faster than ever and everyone needs new skills to keep up. Digital tools
like smartphones, tablets and computers are now part of daily life, so learning to use them well is
important.
Robotics is the science of designing and building robots. Robots are machines that can perform
tasks usually done by humans, from simple toys to complex industrial systems.
In the future, robots will take over routine work like cleaning, repairing and manufacturing jobs.
Some will even be able to process information, analyse situations and make decisions.
Today’s students already know about robots from toys, films and cartoons. This makes learning
robotics easier and more exciting for them.
UNDERSTANDING ROBOTS
The National Robotics Association explains a robot as a machine that can be programmed to do
many different tasks. It is designed to move materials, tools or parts and can follow instructions
to complete various jobs. In simple terms, a robot is a machine that can work on its own or with
very little help from people. Robots can be programmed to repeat the same actions again and
again or to do work that might be dangerous or too hard for humans.
A robot can be understood through the following points:
A robot is a machine made up of mechanical, electrical and sometimes electronic parts,
created to carry out specific tasks.
A robot can do jobs that are usually done by humans, such as lifting, carrying or handling
objects.
A robot can work autonomously without needing constant human control.
A robot can detect its surroundings, use programmed instructions or artificial intelligence and
then make decisions based on sensor input and logic.
