                 PRIMARY PREVIEW

                    Understanding Data Same or Different
Sorting and Grouping Asking and Counting
                    Pictographs

Before starting the chapter, think about all the things you know about the world
around you. Every time information is collected, it becomes data. Data can be

things like a person’s name, age or favourite food. In this chapter, you will learn how
to collect, sort and show data in different ways.

                 UNDERSTANDING DATA

Data refers to raw facts or figures that provide us with information about the

world around us. It can come in many forms, such as words, numbers or even
pictures. Imagine looking around you and noticing things like the colour of your
clothes, your favourite toys or the pets people own. All of this information is data.

When data is collected, it helps people make decisions, solve problems or learn
                 more about something.
