RIYA’S CANTEEN STORY
Riya studies in a school where the canteen sells snacks every day. The canteen
head wanted to know which food items students like the most. So, she started
collecting data.
She wrote down the number of items sold each day:
Monday: 20 samosas, 15 sandwiches, 10 juices
Tuesday: 25 samosas, 10 sandwiches, 12 juices
Wednesday: 30 samosas, 12 sandwiches, 15 juices
These numbers are data because they are just facts.
Then, the teacher studied this data and found that samosas were sold the most every day.
This is called information because it helps us understand something useful.
Now, the canteen started making more samosas every day. Students were happier because
their favourite food was always available.
Based on the above case, answer the following questions:
1. What information did the teacher find from the data?
2. How did the information help the canteen?
