œ œCreate screen-free zones: Designate areas of your home, like the dining
table or your bedroom, as screen-free zones. This can encourage face-to-face

communication and help you focus on activities that don’t involve technology.

œ œSleep well: Avoid screens at least 30 minutes before bed. The blue light from
screens can interfere with your sleep, so it’s best to unwind with a book or other
non-screen activities before going to sleep.

œ œPractice digital detox: Take a break from screens for a few hours or a day. This
allows you to focus on activities that don’t require technology, such as spending

quality time with family or pursuing hobbies.

œ œEngage in offline hobbies: Balance your online time by engaging in offline hobbies
like drawing, painting, reading or gardening. These activities help you relax and

                    can improve your creativity.

œ œBe mindful of your posture: When using screens, sit in a comfortable position
to avoid back and neck strain. Remember to stretch your muscles regularly and
adjust your screen height to maintain good posture.

œ œEncourage social interaction: Technology can sometimes limit face-to-face

interactions. Make an effort to spend time with friends and family in person,
whether it’s for a meal, a walk or just chatting.

                  Screen Time Balance Wheel

In this activity, students will track their screen time and other activities throughout the week
by creating a Balance Wheel. The wheel is divided into sections representing different activities
like outdoor play, study time, hobbies, and screen time. Students will colour in each section
according to the amount of time they spend on each activity. Once completed, the Balance
Wheels will be displayed in the classroom, providing a visual comparison for students. This
exercise encourages students to reflect on their time management, promoting discussions
on the importance of balancing screen time with other activities like physical exercise and
learning. It will also foster self-awareness, helping students identify areas where they can
make improvements. This activity not only helps students manage their time better but also

encourages them to set personal goals for improving their overall balance in daily routines.
