Ray Solomonoff: A pioneer in the field of machine learning,
Solomonoff is known for his work on inductive inference and
the development of algorithmic information theory. His
contributions were crucial in establishing the mathematical
foundations of AI.
Alan Newell and Herbert A. Simon: Together,
Newell and Simon developed the Logic Theorist
and the General Problem Solver (GPS), which
were among the first AI programs to demonstrate
problem-solving capabilities. Their work focused
on simulating human thought processes through
symbolic reasoning.
Arthur Samuel: A key figure in machine learning, Samuel is
famous for his work on self-learning programs. His
development of the checkers-playing program is often cited
as one of the first examples of a machine that could learn
from experience.
Oliver Selfridge: Known for his work in pattern recognition and
machine learning, Selfridge contributed to the development
of the "Pandemonium" model, an early framework for how
machines could recognise and interpret patterns.
