DATA REPRESENTATION
Data representation is the method of showing information in a clear visual form using tables,
charts, symbols and shapes. Instead of reading long lists of numbers, visuals help us understand
data quickly and easily. It organises raw data so that it becomes simple to read, compare and
use in everyday situations. This also helps in identifying patterns and making better decisions.
The main aim of data representation is to make complex information simple and easy to
understand at a single glance.
Data can be shown in different ways depending on the type of information and the purpose. Some
common types of data representation are tables, charts and pictograms.
Using Tables for Data Representation
Tables are a simple way to represent data by arranging information in rows and columns. This
organised format makes it easy to read, find and compare values quickly. Each piece of data has
a fixed place in the table, which helps in understanding the information clearly without confusion.
Excellent for comprehensive information and when exact numbers matter more than trends.
A table has a few important parts that make it easy to read and
understand: Row
Title: A name at the top that tells what the table is about.
Cell
Headings: Labels at the top of each column shows the type
of data. Column
