ETHICS
Ethics refers to a set of moral principles that guide a person's behaviour, determining what is right
or wrong, good or bad. It helps individuals and society make decisions that align with the values
of fairness, respect and responsibility. Think about your everyday life.
If a classmate is struggling with their homework, do you ignore them or offer to help? Most of
us would offer a helping hand.
If you see someone drop their phone in the hallway, what should you do? You should pick it up
and return it to them, right?
Ethical Use of Technology
The ethical use of technology refers to the guidelines for using smartphones, computers, laptops
or any other devices in a responsible, honest and safe manner. This includes protecting your
personal information, being truthful and showing respect to others when communicating or
sharing content on the Internet. Ethical use of technology includes the following:

UNETHICAL PRACTICES PREVALENT IN SOCIETY, RELATED TO THE INTERNET
The Internet can be a great resource, but it also comes with certain risks. Let’s take a look at some
unethical practices that can happen online and how to prevent them.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of copying someone else’s work and presenting it as
your own. This may include text, media or even ideas. When a person’s work
is used without proper reference or citation, it is considered plagiarism.
Whenever we use someone else’s content or material, we should take
permission from the original creator and give proper credit by mentioning
their name in our work.
Steps to Prevent Plagiarism
Some effective methods to prevent plagiarism are:
Understand proper citation: Always give credit to all sources you use.
Paraphrase responsibly: Rewrite ideas in your own words and structure while ensuring the
source is properly credited.
