ETHICAL SAFEGUARDS IN AI
Ethical safeguards are important to ensure AI systems are fair and safe. Without them, AI could
make decisions that harm people’s lives. Let’s look at how AI should be used responsibly:
Use AI responsibly: AI should be used carefully by both developers and users. Even though
AI can make decisions, humans should always be the final decision-makers. For example, In
healthcare, AI can help doctors spot illnesses, but the doctor should always make the final call
on treatment.
Human-in-the-loop (HITL): In important areas like medicine, law or finance, the final decision
must always be made by humans. AI should help, not take over decision-making.
Transparency and ability to explain: AI systems should be clear about how they make
decisions. This helps you trust AI and spot any mistakes or unfairness. For example, If an
AI suggests a video game, it should explain why it recommended it, like noticing you liked a
similar game before.
Data privacy: AI systems handle a lot of personal information. Ethical AI ensures your data
is kept safe and used responsibly. Laws like GDPR protect your information. For example,
When using a fitness app, your step data must be kept private and not shared without your
permission.
