ISHAAN AND CYBERBULLYING Skills
Ishaan was a quiet student at his school. Some other students thought it would be fun to
create a fake social media account pretending to be him. They posted embarrassing things
that made everyone think Ishaan was the one posting them. As a result, other students started
laughing at him and he became very upset. The bullying affected Ishaan so much that he eventually
stopped coming to school.
This is a clear example of cyberbullying, which is when someone is hurt or humiliated online.
Cyberbullying can have serious effects on someone’s mental health, causing sadness, anxiety and
even withdrawal from social activities.
Every action you take online can have consequences. It’s important to respect others’ identity and
dignity, both online and offline. Making fun of someone or posting hurtful things can have a lasting
impact on their life.
Based on the above case answer the following questions:
1. How do you think Ishaan felt when he found out that a fake account was created in his name?
2. What are the consequences of posting something embarrassing about someone online?
3. What can you do if you see cyberbullying happening to someone else?
4. How can you make sure that your online actions are respectful and responsible?
Responsibilities of Digital Users
Just like you have rights online, you also have responsibilities to ensure the internet remains safe
and fair for everyone. Here are key responsibilities of digital users:
Respect others: Never post mean or false things about others online. Don’t spread rumours
or attack anyone. For example, If you see someone being bullied online, speak up or report it
to an adult. Help others by being kind online.
