To gain a clear and complete understanding, this stage uses the 4W’s approach: Who, What,
Where and Why. This method helps define all important aspects of the problem and ensures
alignment among stakeholders and team members.
Who: This refers to the individuals or groups who are directly or indirectly affected by the
problem. It includes users, customers, stakeholders and anyone involved in decision-making.
Identifying these people helps in designing a solution that meets their needs.
What: This step focuses on identifying the exact issue that needs to be solved. It clearly defines
the problem, the objectives and the expected results from the AI solution.
Where: This identifies the environment or location where the problem exists and where the AI
solution will be implemented. It may refer to a physical place, a digital platform or a specific
industry or domain.
Why: This explains the reason for solving the problem. It helps determine the importance
of the solution and the benefits it will bring, such as improving efficiency, reducing costs or
enhancing user experience.
These questions serve as a structured approach to ensure that all relevant aspects of the
problem are considered, thereby facilitating a more effective and efficient analysis and solution
