AGRICULTURE & SOIL HEALTH

                  How AI Helps

AI can help farmers better understand and improve soil health:

 AI systems can analyse soil data collected from sensors to offer recommendations on how to use
fertilisers, manage irrigation and plan crop rotation. As part of the 2026 Union Budget, the Indian
government introduced an AI-powered platform called Bharat Vistaar. This platform provides
farmers with localised information, including soil conditions, weather forecasts, pest detection
and expert advice, all available in their native languages. The aim is to offer personalised crop
and soil recommendations, covering areas like fertiliser use and irrigation needs.
 AI-powered mobile applications allow farmers to take photos of crop issues and receive
immediate guidance. The Indian Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers launched the app,

namely, Collection of Real-Time Observations and Photos of Crops (CROPIC). This app
enables farmers to upload photos of their crops at different growth stages. The AI system
then assesses the health of the crops, identifies any signs of stress or damage and provides
real-time monitoring and suggestions for improvement.

                                            a) 5 b) 6

                  AI-ASSISTED HEALTHCARE

AI is transforming healthcare around the world, making it faster, more accurate and more
affordable. In India, where the healthcare system must support over 1.3 billion people, there is
a significant gap between the demand for healthcare services and the available resources. AI

is playing a crucial role in bridging this gap by helping with early disease detection, analysing
medical images and supporting healthcare professionals in decision-making.

AI also enables virtual healthcare and remote patient monitoring, which means patients can consult
doctors through telemedicine platforms and use wearable devices that monitor vital signs in real
time. This allows doctors to track patients' health from a distance and make timely decisions.
