MISINFORMATION AND SOCIAL IMPACT
In today’s digital world, information spreads more quickly than ever before. A single post, message
or video shared on social media can reach thousands — sometimes even millions — of people
within minutes. While this rapid sharing of information can be helpful, it also raises an important
question: Is all the information we see online accurate and trustworthy?
The answer is not always true.
Sometimes, false or misleading information spreads widely across digital platforms. This type of
information is known as misinformation. Misinformation refers to incorrect, incomplete or misleading
content that is shared with others, whether intentionally or unintentionally. With the advancement
of Artificial Intelligence, the spread of misinformation has become easier and more convincing.
Modern AI tools are capable of creating highly realistic content that may appear genuine but is
actually false.
For example, AI can:
Create realistic fake images
Generate fake news articles
Imitate voices of real people
Produce misleading or edited videos
Create deepfake videos
Generate fake social media posts or comments
Manipulate audio recordings to change the meaning of a conversation
