The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of the computer. It follows instructions,
solves problems and runs programs. It is a small chip placed inside the CPU box/
cabinet.
Parts of the CPU
The CPU has the following main parts:
1. Control Unit (CU): The Control CPU
Unit tells the computer's memory, Control Unit
arithmetic/logic unit and input/
output devices how to respond to
the instructions it receives. Arithmetic

2. Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU): The
Arithmetic Logic Unit is the part of
the CPU that does mathematical Memory Unit
calculations and logical tasks.
3. Memory Unit (MU): The memory unit stores data and instructions.
OUTPUT DEVICES
Output devices are hardware that
display the results of your work. These The speed of a CPU is measured in Gigahertz

by the computer. Let us learn about some of them.
Monitor
The monitor, also known as a display screen or Visual Display Unit (VDU), shows
output, such as text, images and videos. Some common types of monitors are
Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitor, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitor and Light
Emitting Diode (LED) monitor.
