SORTING DATA
Sorting data means arranging information in a clear and organised order. For
example, you can arrange books on a shelf from A to Z or line up numbers from
the smallest to the largest. In simple terms, sorting is the process of putting data
in a specific order.
Different ways to sort data are as follows:
Alphabetical (A Z or Z A) for words, such as
names or subjects.
Numerical (smallest largest or largest smallest) About 70% of surveys use
for marks, heights or scores. multiple-choice questions for
easy analysis.
Date order (oldest newest or newest oldest)
for timelines or events.
ACTIVITY-3
Create a presentation on Everyday Robots. Prepare a separate slide for each
robot. On each slide, include the robot’s name, a picture of the robot and
a short description explaining what the robot does. Once all the slides are
prepared, sort the slides in alphabetical order based on the robot names.
ACTIVITY-4
Students will make flashcards for different Internet services, writing the
name and a short description. Then, they will group the cards by function:
Communication (e.g., Email), Entertainment (e.g., Video Streaming), Shopping
(e.g., Online Shopping) and Information (e.g., News Websites). Finally, they
can discuss why each service belongs in its category.
