In today’s world, people spend a lot of time on the Internet. It’s important to be responsible
and respectful, both in real life and online. This is known as Digital Citizenship. It means using
technology in a kind, smart and safe way.
WHAT IS CITIZENSHIP?
Citizenship is like being a member of a family or sports team.
Just like team members have roles and responsibilities, citizens
also have rights and duties. Rights include things like voting,
receiving social benefits and being able to work. Responsibilities
include following the laws, paying taxes and treating others
with respect. Citizenship means being a recognised member
of a country with certain rights, privileges and responsibilities.
WHAT IS DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP?
Digital citizenship refers to the responsible,
ethical and safe use of technology. It involves
understanding how to interact with others online,
respecting their rights and at the same time,
protecting your own digital footprint. It also teaches
skills for communicating, collaborating and acting
positively on online platforms.
Patents and trademarks are real-world examples
of how ownership is protected and credit is given
to creators. A patent safeguards new inventions,
such as a gadget or software, while a trademark protects names, logos or symbols that represent
a brand, like the Nike tick or the Amul girl. These rights ensure that innovators and companies
receive recognition for their original work. As responsible digital citizens, it is important to respect
these protections by not copying or misusing others’ ideas or brand identities.
