2 NUMBER SYSTEM

                  PRIMARY PREVIEW

                     Decimal Number System
                     Binary Number System
                     Octal Number System
                     Hexadecimal Number System
                     Conversion of Number Systems
                     Binary Arithmetic Operations

Hey AIRO, I don’t understand number
systems. How do computers use them?

                                                                         Computers use binary, a system

with only 0s and 1s, to represent data.

Just 0s and 1s? How does that work?

Yes! 1 means ON and 0 means OFF.

Computers use these signals to process data.

I see! So, Binary is the computer’s language.
But why don’t we use it in everyday life?

Humans use the decimal system because it
has ten digits, while binary is simpler for computers.
Now, let’s explore more about number systems in this chapter!
