SORTING DATA

You can sort data in Excel to arrange your information in a specific order, such as from smallest
to largest (ascending) or largest to smallest (descending). This makes it easier to find and analyse
your data quickly. To sort data, follow the given steps:

2 Click on the Sort & Filter option.

3 Select the Sort A to Z option.

1 Select the range of cells you want to sort.

Your data is now sorted from A to Z in alphabetical order.

                 CUSTOM SORTING

You can use Custom Sorting in Excel to sort data based on multiple criteria.
For example, suppose there are Student’s Name and Marks in a list. You can first sort the data

by Marks in descending order (from Largest to Smallest) and then, for students with the same
marks, sort them alphabetically by Student’s Name in ascending order.
To use Custom Sort, follow the given steps:

2 Click on the Sort & Filter option.

3 Select the Custom Sort option.

1 Select the range of cells you want to sort.

5 Click on the Order box and
4 Click on the Sort by box and
select the Marks column header. select the Largest to Smallest option.

                     6 Click on the
                     Add Level button.

7 Select the Student’s Name column heading
and choose A to Z as the order criteria. 8 Click on the OK button.

                                                                                                                  43
