Your data will be sorted first by Marks (from Largest to Smallest) and then by Student’s Name
(alphabetically) for students with the same score.
If Excel was a magical library, how would you sort books and filter books you had read?
FILTERING DATA
You can filter data in Excel to view specific information based on certain criteria without modifying
the original dataset. This helps you focus on relevant data by hiding the rest.
To filter data, follow the given steps:
2 Click on the Sort & Filter option.
3 Select the Filter option.
SHORT SIGN
To add a filter:
Ctrl + Shift + L
1 Select the range of cells you want to filter.
4 Click on the arrow next to the header.
5 Click on the checkboxes
you want to uncheck.
6 Click OK to apply the filter.
Your data will now only display rows that meet your filter criteria.
CUSTOM FILTER
You can apply a Custom Filter in Excel to filter data based on specific conditions that are not
available in the default filter options. This gives you the flexibility to display data according to
complex criteria such as greater than, less than or contains. For example, suppose you want to
find products whose price per unit is greater than 22.
